Ethnicity in tour guiding. Narratives of Székelyföld tour guides

Summary/Abstract: The study examines the self-, national-, local identity, and social categorizations among tour guides in Szeklerland based on their field experiences. The main question of this work is according to which ethnic characteristics do they define themselves, their own environment and Szeklerland, and to what extent does this affect the presentation of the region? Furthermore, what image of Szeklerland do they have, what do they show tourists (Hungarian-Romanian-foreign)? The aim of this article is to gain an insight into the individual, micro-level construction of the image of Szeklerland, which the tour guides carry out during their work.
