Summary/Abstract: The author of the study provides a comprehensive overview of the records pertaining to vineyards and wines in Bačka, meticulously arranged in chronological order from the pre-Phyloxera era. Wines from Vojvodina, including those from the Srem region and the Fruška gora, are cited as early as the Middle Ages, while vineyards of southern Banat are documented from the late 1yth century. However, it was not until the 20th century that descriptions of viticulture and oenology in Bačka began to be documented. Only the 1859-60 settlement censuses contain a few isolated references to vineyards on the outskirts of villages, and to the wine produced there. Research in the fields of ethnography and local history from the 20th and 21st centuries provide further insights into the vineyards of Bačka and the quality its wines.
