Summary/Abstract: The text analyses the content and ideological message of the permanent exhibition devoted to the cultural heritage of the people of Wilamowice, presented in the recently opened Museum of the Culture of Wilamowice. The authors of the exhibition present in a modern and comprehensive way the legacy left here by the newcomers from Western Europe, the founders of the settlement later called Wilamowice. They probably came from Flan¬ders and brought with them a special language (which has survived to this day only in this area), previously unknown customs, costumes, and even culinary recipes. This heritage is so special that it was decided to comme¬morate it in a museum built especially for this purpose. The exhibition prepared there is mainly ethnographic in nature, but this does not mean that it completely ignores political and national issues. Both of these spheres weighed on mutual relations with both the Polish and German communities. After World War II, they resulted in the reco¬gnition of the inhabitants of Wilamowice as people identifying with the German cultural circle. This in turn, according to the propaganda of the time, was to justify the confiscation of property and the expulsion of some of the native inhabitants from Wilamowice. It was not until 1956 that they were able to return to their homeland. Neither the museum nor the per¬manent exhibition located there are overwhelming in size. But for this very reason, the new point on the museum map of Poland becomes a very interesting proposition for people interested in the non-obvious history of various regions of our country.
