Summary/Abstract: Before the start of every school year in Romania, the shortage of teachers in almost all subjects and its causes are inevitably the subject of heated debate, with high hopes and promises for the future. Unfortunately, measures to combat this situation are much less frequently debated. This article aims to use two successful training programs to provide a picture of measures taken in Romania to train and professionalize teachers in the field of German as a foreign language. A survey of students at the University of Bucharest shows how the internship program affects the motivation of German studies students to become teachers.
