OPTIMIZATION OF WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKS - CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the problems associated with the implementation and exploatation of wireless sensor networks. We will present the specifics of the problem and set up models that describe them. We will describe the optimization methodology of various parameters of interest and present some of the popular methods that provide good solutions to the problem. Special attention will be paid to terrain coverage and data routing techniques. The first of them determines the quality of service, and the second decisively affects the efficiency of energy consumption in the network. We will compare some of the methods according to different criteria and give suggestions for further research.
