Summary/Abstract: The links between dream and literature seem so natural and obvious that it seems pointless to question them. Literature is a form of imagination and where does our imagination find its source if not in dreams? one might ask. However, this law that constantly associates dream and literature has not always followed the same trajectory throughout history. We would like to examine the links between dream and literature by the analysis of a literary work from the new novel movement: La modification by Michel Butor. The aim will be to show that here, the use of an innovative narrative with second-person enunciation makes possible to address the dreams on three levels: firstly, on the psychological level, then on the cosmological one and finally on the level of reading itself, where reading is caught up in a double dream: both the reader dreaming the text being read and the text dreaming its reader.
