Summary/Abstract: Reflexive pronouns kendi and kendisi are of two types: nominative and inflected. Observationally, kendi as a reflexive pronoun can be bound to a local antecedent, while kendisi as a logophor can be bound to the subject of the main clause. However, the pronoun kendi can be connected to both an intrasentential and inter-sentential antecedent. The antecedentreferent relation, analyzed in terms of morpho-syntactic and semantic aspects according to the Principle A of the Binding Theory within the scope of UG, is subject to the fields of discourse-pragmatics and textlinguistics regarding Cohesion Principle of Textuality Criteria (TC). By means of TC, reflexives, replaced with another unit, contribute to the semantic integrity of the text forming grammatical cohesion intersententially. From these two perspectives, UG is deductive, and TC is inductive. In line with these views, the aim of the study is to analyze the intra-sentential and inter-sentential representations of kendi and kendisi regarding the binding phenomenon according to syntactic and textual conditions in a theoretical and practical way by scanning 1000 tokens from the TS Corpus V2. Accordingly, considering the inflected, bare intrasentential forms and inter-sentential referential properties, it has been observed that the kendi and kendisi are structured in seven subcategories. It has been found that the intra-sentential form of kendi and the inter-sentential form of kendisi occur more frequently, and that the anaphora is used more frequently than the cataphora. It has also been observed that ambiguous sentences derived deductively are not found in inductively analyzed corpus, and that there is a positive relationship between the pronouns, although there is no statistically significant difference regarding subcategories. This study differs from the previous studies in that it evaluates the two aspects of the pronouns kendi and kendisi, which are theoretically and practically analyzed from the formalist and functionalist perspectives (deductive and inductive) in the literature. In addition to employing the native speaker's intuitions and judgments to determine the formal features, analyzing them by comparing them with the written texts in the TS Corpus V2 database will contribute to further studies to be conducted on the form-function axis.
