Summary/Abstract: About the Architectural Features and Construction Phases of Manisa Lala Paşa MosqueA Manisa, one of the ancient cities of Western Anatolia, after hosting many civilisations throughout history, came under Turkish rule at the beginning of the XIVth century and soon gained the identity of a Turkish-Islamic city. The city, which was the capital of the Saruhanogullari Principality, was one of the most important sanjak centres where princes were sent during the Ottoman period. In Manisa, which witnessed intensive construction activities in these centuries, many architectural works were built by both members of the dynasty and state officials. Among these buildings, the Lala Pasha Mosque is one of the examples of a single-domed mosque, but it also has some remarkable architectural features. The mosque has survived to the present day with various interventions over the centuries. The existing traces provide important data regarding the construction phases of the building.
