Summary/Abstract: The right and duty of an adult person was to direct child’s development toward established, socialy accepted criteria using repressive means and methods of discipline. It was taken as a total respect of behavioural rules as well as authorities which were prescribed for children’s well being and appropriate development of an individual and the society. The aim of the work is to show the influence of both reward and punishment to students and teachers’ attitudes toward PE classes. The attitudes of both teachers and junior school age students were researched toward the appliance of reward and punishment by the teachers in PE classes. They all live and attend or work in the area of Banja Luka town. The research was conducted in the fifth grade of the elementary schools and it included 304 students (144 girls and 160 boys). It also included 52 teachers with various working experience. The questionnaire was used in this research. The data gathered through the questionnaire for the students and teachers are expressed in nominal and ordinal scale, while at the data processing descriptive and comparative non parameters techniques of the statistic analyses are used. For the purpose of statistic data processing through teachers’s questionnaire there were composite variable of individual values on the scale for the certain answers which served for estimation of teachers’ attitudes. It is influenced by the Likert’s type of scale of estimation where the lower value marks total or partial acceptance of the statement while the higher value marks total or partial disapproval of the given statement. According to teachers’ opinion, the method of reward significantly influences the achievement of better results in PE classes, while students think they are rewarded only when they deserve it.It is interesting opinion of the students that the punishment can contribute to achievement of better results. On the other hand, the teachers point out that the method of punishment is more useful with weaker students. As a conclusion it is clear that, at least, warnings are necessary to be used with the aim to achieve better results in PE classes.
