Summary/Abstract: Following the 1990’s reformation of architectural education, “History of Romanian Towns” was introduced in the curriculum and consolidated as a new and crucial subject for the formation of well-informed professionals in both architecture and urbanism. Associated to its didactic goal, there has been one meant to train researchers who, through their studies and publications are expected to contribute a more insightful knowledge of urban history. The introduction of the optional course on “History of Settlements in Romania” and that of additional lectures within the core course on “History of Architecture in Romania” have involved new and special research stages into various projects, including the preliminary stages for the graduation project. The higher cycle of academic formation – the doctoral studies – is illustrated by quite a number of quality papers, of which many have significantly contributed the research of the urban Romanian phenomenon. At the same time, the academic staff of our University has been increasingly interested in carrying out research projects, studies, articles, and volumes, of which many have notably broadened the domain.
