Summary/Abstract: Creativity follows a spontaneous path in wich we initially do not know our destination; the primary function of the process is not to reach a set destination since the result depends on the spontaneity and unforessen change of the set direction. Rational thinking as represented in our educational programs is only part of the holistic psychological functioning of a child. The school should encourage the development of all potentials of a child – emotional , intellectual and creative. A free and relaxed atmosphere in art classes could serve as an incetive for the development of creativity and acceptance of ones emotions, thus being the key to developing a pupil as a whole person. Because of that it is important to encourage children to be free in expressing their experiences, in order for the product of their work to come out of their sincerity, creativity and originality. Pupils should be offered more time within which they can express themselves artistically; they should be offered more opportunity for researching different media and natural surroundings; they should be encouraged to explore various manners of artistic expression and be aware of the importance of their work. Pres-chool teachers or classroom teachers should research art with children and discover the presence of art in everything that surrounds us. The process of becoming acquainted with art, which happenes in kindergarten and in school, shold consist of preparing pupils to critically observe the work of others and to be in contact with important worldwide artwork through visiting galleries, museums. Such a view artistic creativity is mirrored in a holistic approach to the art curriculum.
