Summary/Abstract: Dimitar B. Mitov (1898-1962) is one of the forgotten names which formed part of Bulgarian literary and social life in the 20th century. His creative work was mostly related to the establishment of the Literary Voice newspaper before 9th September 1944. This led to a variety of attitudes to said work among his inner circle and his contemporaries such as Zdravko Petrov, Petar Goryansky, Dzhenyu Vasilev, Atanas Dalchev, Kiril Kastev, Radoy Ralin and Kalina Malina. This study focuses on the biography and creative outlook of D. B. Mitov, as well as his critical opinions and the memories of his contemporaries about him. The fine line between objectivity and subjectivity, a friend’s duty and the shadow of the political setting before and after 1944 and 1989 are what makes for the “D. B. Mitov case”- one of the plots revealing the complicated fate of Bulgarian intellectuals in the turbulent times of the 20th century.Dimitar B.
