PROJECTING THE PROBLEM OF PAIN AND PLEASURE IN FRANÇOIS VILLONʼS THE TESTAMENT (LE TESTAMENT)

Summary/Abstract: The following text is dedicated to a fragment from Le testament by François Villon, more specifically Les regrets de la belle Heaulmière. It will focus on the verbal gesture of lamentation with which the pretty vendor Heaulmière is represented on the cline that is time, comprising the past, present and future. In the beginning, we position the viewpoints on the body and its potential joys during the Middle Ages. Afterwards, we comment on Villon’s perception of the body as a finite source of pleasures owing the constant movement of time.
