OVERVIEW THE IMPACT OF THE KOVID 19 PANDEMIC ON THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS AND THE ECONOMY OF THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS

Summary/Abstract: The coronavirus pandemic has caused business interruptions in many areas of the economy. The world has started to lock down, to slow the spread of an unknown disease, followed by economic consequences that are still ongoing. The most affected areas were certainly tourism and catering, as well as traffic, and there was a decline in business in other areas as well. After the initial decline, there has been a recovery and growth in global GDP, but the biggest rise is in e-business and communications. Higher education has also suffered damage, especially in large systems, where campuses and universities represent small economies. The transition to online teaching has caused a number of changes, and universities that have developed distance learning systems are making a profit and increas capacity. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the other hand, the situation has remained unchanged. Universities operated as before the pandemic, with no connection to the economic system. No major step forward has been made towards distance learning, and the benefit has been felt only in the IT education of senior professors. The exception is the development of distance learning in primary and secondary schools, but also without the possibility of practical training in vocational schools. It remains questionable what expectations we can have after the end of the pandemic, or what the society’s response to potential crises will be.
