Summary/Abstract: The pedagogical-psychological team of school should deal with the improvement of the teaching profession participating in the creation of professional development programs for teachers. Strengthening teaching competencies creates better conditions for quality teaching of students. The aim of this paper is to identify the role and support of the pedagogical-psychological team of school in creating a program for professional development of teachers. In accordance with that, focus groups were realized with teachers of different subject areas, as well as with pedagogues and psychologists of primary and secondary schools in Sarajevo Canton. Within the research, six focus groups were realized, and between 9 and 12 participants participated in each focus group. By analyzing the obtained data, conclusions were obtained that are important for the improvement of the professional development program for teachers and the determination of the obligations and responsibilities of the pedagogical-psychological team of school. Although pedagogues and psychologists have competencies for organizing and implementing professional development programs for teachers, they are still not recognized as a key link in the whole process, for which the existing educational policy in Sarajevo Canton is primarily responsible. The importance of the work is reflected in offering guidelines for the revaluation of the teaching profession in the eyes of all participants in the educational process and defining the role of the pedagogical and psychological team of school.
