Summary/Abstract: Over the past decades, Hungarian American diaspora organizations have played a significantrole in advocating for the human rights of ethnic Hungarian minorities outside Hungary’sborders. While these organizations have engaged in a broad range of issues—including NATO enlargementand the U.S. Visa Waiver Program—this study focuses specifically on their sustained effortsto protect minority rights. The Hungarian Human Rights Foundation (HHRF) has been theprimary organization leading these initiatives. By situating Hungarian diaspora advocacy withinthe broader framework of ethnic interest representation in the United States, this study explorescontemporary challenges, such as the decreasing prioritization of minority rights in U.S. foreignpolicy and the shifting geopolitical landscape in Central and Eastern Europe. Drawing on insightsfrom academic literature, the study proposes strategic responses to ensure the continued effectivenessof these advocacy efforts.
