Summary/Abstract: The article reconstructs some elements of Elias Canetti’s concept of mass andpower. Emphasis has been placed especially on those concepts that are directly related to thebody. The thesis of the article is that Canetti in many cases anticipated those contemporarypolitical concepts that emphasize corporeality in its various manifestations, and especial-ly emphasize the role of emotions in politics. Such an interpretation is confronted withsome theories of populism.
