Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses the problem of being in the works of two Islamic authorities: Ibn Sina and Ibn Arabi. Being is the central problem in their thinking. Ibn Sina is considered the “philosopher of being” and his influence is great in Islamic and scholastic philosophy. Although Ibn Arabi adopted the terminology from Ibn Sina, he approaches this problem in his own way. He does not consider the concept of being in the sense of being as an abstract concept, as Ibn Sina’s ontology requires, but in the sense of presence, availability, existential presence where an intuitive approach dominates. In Ibn Arabi, being and reality are synonymous.
