Summary/Abstract: This essay aims to analyze the various functions of writing related to the theme of mental illness in the book Aẖbār ar-Rāzī (The Chronicles of ar-Rāzī) by the Tunisian writer and psychologist Aymen Daboussi (2017). The text appears first and foremost as the clinical diary of a psychologist whose notes allow us to document the patients' cases, the reality of the medical and paramedical staff and the internal mechanisms of the ar-Rāzī hospital in Manouba. The story then becomes increasingly personal, revealing the narrator's darkest sides in a form of therapeutic catharsis. Finally, the various narratives reported become the expression of the collective traumas experienced by Tunisian society in the post-revolutionary period.
