Summary/Abstract: The topic of the tuning systems is the most neglected in the academic practice of music colleges and academies in our state. As a result, generations of Bulgarian musicians are left with meager (and often plain wrong) knowledge about the essence and character of this particular segment of music theory. Meanwhile, the tuning system is one of the most essential aspects of pitch organization in music, and it is very closely related to its melodic, harmonic, textural, and functional side. In addition, its historical development mirrors the very evolution of functional thought through the ages.
