Summary/Abstract: This article is the extended version of a paper presented in November 2005 at the conference „Information Society Days” in Budapest. The authors analysed the media consumption and the attitudes toward the Internet of three underprivileged social groups – senior citizens, those belonging to the Roma minority, and those living in small settlements, using data gained in the frames of the World Internet Project. Based on the results of their analysis, they argue that for assisting deprived social groups in their catching up, precisely targeted specific development and affirmation programs are needed in the field of ICT.
