Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the lingua-culturalpotential of the phraseological units in theBelarusian language that makes it possible toinclude idioms in the teaching process aimedat non-Belarusian speakers more activelyand deliberately. The attention is paid to thenecessity of consistent and systematic workon the analysis of set expressions at all stagesof the study Belarusian as another Slaviclanguage. The article also brings up the issuesconnected with diffi culties of studying theBelarusian phraseology, namely the amountand composition of idioms which are introducedas active units for students’ speech practice.The methodological approaches to the workon phraseology in the comparative aspecton the example of Belarusian-Polish idiomsare presented. Further, the article suggestscertain recommendations on the inclusion ofphraseology in the teaching process to developcommunication skills.
