QUALITY MANUFACTURING OF THE CONNECTING ROD - A FACTOR IN ENSURING THE PERFORMANCE AND LIFETIME OF THE SHOCK ABSORBER

Summary/Abstract: Along with the requirements for the development and improvement of motor vehicles, it is necessary to adequately monitor the state of technical correctness of motor vehicles in operation, where we have motor vehicles of great age and with a large number of kilometers traveled along with poor road infrastructure. Shock absorbers, as damping elements in the suspension system, have the task of damping the oscillations of elastic elements, i.e. the suspension system and the vehicle as a whole, while reducing shock loads. This directly affects the comfort, stability and safety of movement of the vehicle, so that they belong to the elements of active safety of the vehicle. During the exploitation of motor vehicles, the condition of the suspension system, i.e. damping elements - shock absorbers, due to the wear of the shock absorbers, does not ensure the safe movement of motor vehicles. Elements of the vehicle suspension system, like every product, has its own life cycle. In order to increase the durability of the suspension system, which mostly depends on the quality of its elements, special attention is paid to the quality of the production of shock absorber elements. At the same time, one of the most important and responsible parts of the shock absorber are the connecting rods. The paper will present a description of how to ensure the required and required characteristics of piston rods in their production processes (grinding, heat treatment, hard chrome plating).
