Summary/Abstract: The transport system represents a finite and ordered set (composition) of elements (roads, means of transport, energy, terminals, management, etc.), real or abstract, with relationships and connections between elements, which function together to achieve a common goal. The elements of the transport system are its constituent parts. A concrete system of internal relations and connections between the elements of the transport system, which determines the way of connecting the elements into a single whole, in the course of realizing their functions, constitutes the structure of the system. The concept of sustainable development implies maintaining a balance between the use, saving and renewal of all our resources, and understanding that the generations to come will also depend on our actions today. In the conditions of globalization, when the demand for transport services is increasing, the volume of transport activities is increasing as a consequence. For these reasons, more and more attention is paid to the sustainability of transport systems in the world, and more and more is invested in increasing the efficiency of these systems with the aim of achieving sustainability.
