Summary/Abstract: Founded in the mid-15th century, Elbasan developed within a short time, becoming one of the most important centers of Albania just a century later. In this paper, we attempted to reflect this development that the city in question achieved by utilizing what can be considered secondary sources, namely letters, relations, reports and travel texts, which do not contain the accuracy of archival sources. Given its geographical position as a border area, its religious composition and the great strategic importance it had, the description and elevation of Albanian spaces in these secondary sources not only helps us to complement the analysis of first-hand sources, but also reflects the mentality of the time, which we find best reflected in these documents.
