Summary/Abstract: In this study, the author aims to analyse the opportunities arising from the Republic of Moldova’s candidate status for integration into the European Union. A research objective is the appraisal and interpretation of the political system’s priorities in the Republic of Moldova, with key areas including an educational system adapted to European values and standards, harmonisation of legislation, supported by judicial reform, combating corruption, and the accountability and integrity of public officials. Moreover, significant attention in this article is devoted to the impact of European projects and the assistance of the Romanian Government on the development of Moldovan villages and cities and on revitalising the national economy. In conclusion, the author states that the Moldovan authorities understand that preparing society for integration into the European Union requires the cooperation of all components of the political system, which must actively support the Europeanisation of its citizens. As a coordinator of Jean Monnet projects and participant in Erasmus+ KA107 projects, the author is convinced that the integration process of the Republic of Moldova into the European Union can become irreversible if all elements of the political system, including professional associations, take responsibility for promoting European values and explain to citizens the benefits of integration. This process in Moldova requires greater efforts, as there are pro-Moscow political forces that, through various protest actions, misinformation, blackmail, etc., promote Moscow’s authoritarian leadership style, falsely showing that Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) remain the main market for Moldovan products
