Ionela Varga Donation of Icons on Glass

Summary/Abstract: During the first months of 2024, the Ethnographic Museum of Moldavia enriched its collection of icons on glass with a number of 34 icons, donated by their author, Mrs. Ionela Varga, whose activity in this field spans over more than three decades. Initially stored in the parental house in Draxeni, Vaslui county, the icons found their way to the Ethnographic Museum to be preserved, exhibited and valorised in a professional manner. The article briefly describes the museum's collection of icons on glass up to the moment of this donation, the stages this author collection went through and, in a more complex manner, the exhibition “Ionela Varga Donation of Icons on Glass”, which comprised all the donated works and which was open between April and June 2024 at the Ethnographic Museum of Moldavia.
