Summary/Abstract: In August 2018, an important discovery took place in the area of Soci, Mirosloveşti commune, Iaşi county: a single-hollowed trunk of large sizes (approximately 10 metres) was discovered in the bed of Moldova river, being the largest one discovered on the territory of the historical Moldavia up to nowadays. Due to the excellent institutional collaboration between the County Directorate for Culture of Iaşi and the Ethnographic Museum of Moldavia, this precious artefact was saved and is now part of the aforementioned museum’s collection. Six years later, following a long restoration process, “Monoxila Moldovei” [Moldavia’s Dugout] was exhibited in the Central Hall of Moldavia’s History Museum which, based on logistical reasons, has been housing the exhibit. The article is a foray into the adventures it underwent throughout this period, while placing it in a wider context of other similar objects discovered in Europe and running a brief analysis of the provenance site.
