Summary/Abstract: This article presents the history of the three most important Evangelical church buildings erected in Elblag in the 19th century: the Church of the Three Kings, St Anne and St Paul. They were erected in the second half of the century to strengthen the structures of the Evangelical Church in the city. The text discusses the influence of the German state and Kaiser Wilhelm II on Protestant construction through legal acts such as the Eisenach Regulation. It also characterises the neo-Gothic style used in the design of the churches studied and, using archives, discusses the history of the buildings, their furnishings and the people and companies involved in the construction. In conclusion, it is indicated that the strong ties between the state and the Evangelical Church contributed, apart from the totalitarianisms of the 20th century, to the regression of Protestantism in Elblag and Vistula Pomerania.
