Summary/Abstract: While scholars of medieval theatre have developed their respective periods and genres over the past 150 years, their work is subject to constant criticism and review. This text will examine a selection of pieces from Latin manuscripts exclusively. The objective of thiss tudy is to demonstrate how the various genres addressed the established stage conventions of the Middle Ages, which are markedly distinct from those of the Modern European period in that they overlap with the liturgical ones. The potential for staging the texts will be examined, both in terms of the action’s coherence and in terms of the available rubrics/stage directions, the nature of which also necessitates a degree of interpretive effort and imagination.
