Summary/Abstract: In the first half of the 20th century, Germany enjoyed a modern musical culture, with famous personalities, with a well-defined stylistic individuality that oscillated between the romantic music of Richard Strauss (1864-1949) and Schönbergian atonalism. A sharp diversification of the musical culture appears after 1949. We find a multitude of styles and ways of exploration in the sound universe of German music where the composers stand out: Paul Hindemith (1893-1963), Hans Eisler (1898-1962), Karlheinz Stockhausen (1928-2007), Carl Orff (1895-1982). Paul Hindemith differs himself in the art of music through a rare ambition. Endowed with a special talent, the composer acquired great technical dexterity from a young age - he played ten instruments perfectly. At the same time, he stood out in the world of conducting, in the world of composition, as both an orchestrator and an accompanist. The german composer, Paul Hindemith, through his nature and character, will be able to break away from the classical-romantic stylistic uniformity, moving from the romantic music style to the modern one with great ease and naturalness. Sonata for flute and piano is a work from which the melodic expression, the influences of german popular music are not missing, a work of deep humanism that fully reveals the composer's sensitivity and at the same time objectivism.
