Summary/Abstract: The composers' vision of their own creations diversifies into the Romantic period. The virtuoso works dedicated to different categories of instruments, such as solo instruments like flute are gaining momentum, rising interest among composers, among the public and the performers. The clear and transparent musical timbre, the warm and crystalline sonority of the flute were very attractive to the composers. During the Romantic era, the musical transcription phenomenon is more and more often encountered and highly appreciated by the musical creators. Italy was among the first cultural spaces to exhibit the phenomenon. Pages from famous works, well-known works, dedicated to other solo instruments but which have a sound similar to the flute, were taken over and processed. Regarding the transposition of a musical piece, the composer, the performer and the performance have an equally important role. The composer must try to bring the transposed work as close as possible to the original version, to the initial musical idea which has been taken over and processed. That is why he must take into account the technical and interpretive abilities, the sonority of the instrument for which he decided the phenomenon to occur. The performer, the one who transmits the proposed message through the interpretation must take into account a whole series of technical problems: technical passages, tonal changes, phrasing, air column and sound emission controls, as well as alternative articulation types. Famous composers of the era, were directly involved in the creation of valuable transcriptions, based on renowned compositions. François Borne’s work Fantaisie brilliant sur Carmen pour Flûte et Piano sur l’Opéra by Georges Bizet, written as a theme with variations form, stood out in the flutist repertoire due to the popularity of the opera at that time and the musicality of the arias. The flute renders the atmosphere of the piece through its musical timbre, special melodic qualities and pitch range. Each section contains frequent changes of tempo, measure, tonality, dynamics, elements of musical language through which the proposed message is flawlessly transmitted to the audience.
