Summary/Abstract: The perceived motivational climate and collective efficacy are important factors that affect athletic performance in team sports. The aim of this study is to reveal the relationships between perceived motivational climate and collective efficacy of athletes differentiated by sex, kind of sport, and sports results. The research was done among 356 athletes practicing team sports (193 men, 163 women) with a mean age of 18.64 years (±4.6). We used the following questionnaires: Perceived Motivational Climate in Sport Questionnaire – 2 (PMCSQ-2) and Collective Еfficacy Questionnaire in Sport (CEQS), adapted for the Bulgarian conditions. Perceived mastery-oriented motivational climate (β=0,642**) has a positive effect, and the important role subscale (β=-0,247**) has a negative effect on ability. Unity decreases when applying unequal recognition (β=-0,138**) and increases when applying cooperative learning (β=0,513**). Persistence is enhanced by mastery-oriented motivational climate (β=0,707**) and decreased by significance of the role (β=-0,263**). Cooperative learning (β=0,312**) and effort and improvement (β=0,211**) stimulate athletes’ preparation. Efforts increase when applying a mastery-oriented motivational climate (β=0,291**) and cooperative learning (β=0,233**). The results of this study give reason to assume that the perceived motivational climate plays an essential role in the formation of collective effectiveness in team sports. They provide guidelines for the formation of an appropriate motivational climate related to optimal sports performance.
