INFLUENCE OF DEMOGRAPHIC VARIABLES ON STUDENTS‘ APPROACHES TO LEARNING, COURSE PERCEPTIONS, ACADEMIC MOTIVATION, TRAIT EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND CAREER PREFERENCES

Summary/Abstract: In March-April 2023 and by means of Google Forms, a psychological study was conducted with students from various specialties and universities. In the course of this research, the influence of various demographic variables (gender, age, specialty, course, degree, academic success, university) on important phenomena that occur in the academic context such as approaches to learning, course perceptions, academic motivation, trait emotional intelligence and career preferences has been studied and analyzed. For the purposes of the study, scientific tools suitable for students have been applied, which are respectively: Revised Approaches to Studying Inventory/RASI (Duff, 1997); Course Perceptions Questionnaire (Entwistle & Ramsden, 1983); The Academic Motivation Scale (Utvær & Haugan, 2016); Adolescent Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire Short Version (TEIQue), adapted for the Bulgarian students by D. Petrova (Petrova, 2021); Career Preference Test (Handbook for employed and unemployed people). The collected data from the conducted research were processed with appropriate statistical-mathematical analyzes, included in the SPSS 20.0 software package. Based on the information received, the statistically significant results were established and analyzed, which testify to the significant influence and power of various demographic variables on the studied phenomena and their manifestations in an academic environment.
