Summary/Abstract: The article is the result of research of the collections of the National Museum of History of Moldova in order to identify, explore and promote museum pieces associated with the name of one of the prominent figures of Chisinau, engineer and deputy architect of the city, Christopher Nicolaidi (1862-?), a Bessarabian of Greek origin, a native of the town of Izmail. The collection, which allows us to reconstruct some aspects of the life and work of C. Nicolaidi, was acquired by the museum in 1987 from a private person, a resident of Chisinau, and includes various categories of items: documents, photographs, books from the personal library, postcards, memorabilia, numismatic and medal pieces, musical notes and so on. After graduating from the mechanical engineering faculty of the Engineering School in Liege (Belgium) in 1888, C. Nicolaidi returned to Bessarabia in 1889, and from 1890 he settled in the capital of the governorate, where he first worked as the head of the construction and modernization of streets. In 1892, he was appointed chief engineer of the city, and from 1893, for a quarter of a century, he also acted as deputy architect of Chisinau. For his prodigious work on the construction and modernization of the administrative center of Bessarabia, C. Nicolaidi was awarded several awards, including the Order of St. Stanislaus, the 1st grade. The novelty of the study lies in the fact that the entire collection is introduced into scientific use for the first time, and some objects are unique. Among them there are C. Nicolaidi’s foreign passport (1888), a collection of musical notes with the autograph of Olga Nicolaidi, the eldest daughter of C. Nicolaidi, but also with the original stamps of Chisinau stores of musical instruments and notes of the late 19th – early 20th century, books of great historical and bibliographic value.
