Summary/Abstract: Adam (Heb. אָדָם) is the first human character mentioned in the Holy Scripture, that is, the first man created by God 'in His image and likeness' (Genesis 1:26-27), and in the New Testament, he is called 'the son of God' (Luke 3:28). The term 'hadamah' refers to the creation of man from the dust of the earth, as it translates to 'red earth' or 'reddish, living clay,' defining a rusty hue of the soil and symbolizing from the beginning the future and fruitful destiny of man: 'and the Word became flesh ('hadamah' = 'σὰρξ' = flesh, living body) (John 1:14).
