Summary/Abstract: 1952, 1986 and 2013 – Three breakpoints in the development of modern Hungarian matrimonial property law, generated to a greater extent by political changes and to a lesser extent by the needs of society. Within this timeframe, this paper examines what elements of traditional law have survived, how they have been shaped by legal policy changes, and how this process can be contextualised in European legal culture.
