Managerial Competencies in Team Management – the Evolution of Change

Summary/Abstract: The issue of managerial competencies within dynamically changing economic surroundingis nowadays a challenge for each manager. The character of managerial approach is strictlyconnected with the effectiveness of the whole organization, creates a synergy in the teamunder their management. Hence, the purpose of this article is to answer the question ofhow important the competencies of managers, necessary in their work in the second halfof the 20th century, are today? Have any traits of managers evolved, especially recently?Moreover, since the goals of organizations in most cases remain the same as many yearsago – and these include achieving profits and increasing value for the owners – manythings have changed in the organizations themselves and in management styles, alsocausing a change in expectations regarding the competencies of managers.
