Summary/Abstract: The Dinaric log cabin was the dominant form of residential house in the Dinaric mountains region in the Balkans. In the valley of the Uvac River, in southwest Serbia, a structural solution with preserved cornice was recorded, which differs significantly from the solution of the Dinaric log cabin. It is characterized by a gable roof (instead of a four-gable one), and the beam on the ridge rests on a specially built structure consisting of a console and a rod. This solution indicates that there was an exchange of construction solutions in the Balkans and Europe, that they were transferred by builders, travellers or settlers. A similar construction solution is applied in Austria, Switzerland and Russia.
