Summary/Abstract: The article traces the emergence and development of two main forms of emerging markets in the world - BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Emphasis is placed on the reasons for their emergence, on the goals and objectives of the functioning of the two alliances set by the member states. Special attention is paid to their geopolitical and economic importance, due to the growth of their resource, demographic and political potential.
