Summary/Abstract: In this article, we do not propose a historical or anthropological analysis of such an important community in the history of humanity, but we note an evolution of the image of its members in the collective mind over the centuries, both in the European space and in the Romanian one. We only note that, in his capacity as "the other", the Jew was not seen as a victim from the beginning, he was first tolerated. The entry of Jews as citizens into Western society takes place in the 19th and 20th centuries. With the permission to develop as a member of the society in which he lives, new aspects of anti-Semitism appear, which lead to the weakening of the citizen status.
