Summary/Abstract: The subject of this article is the analysis of the importance of intellectual capital in in- novative enterprise management in the conditions of a market economy. The first part of the article presents the genesis, meaning of the concept and types of innovation in enterprise management. By acquiring modern and up-to-date knowledge, intellectu- al capital management may become effective and lead to gaining a competitive ad- vantage by the enterprise. Most often, innovative responding organizations are char- acterized by a high level of flexibility in their structure and the ability to dynamically respond to changes taking place in the organization’s environment. The further part of the article indicates the main elements of intellectual capital broken down into human capital and structural capital, which are the source of increasing innovation in the enter- prise. Then, the features of an innovative enterprise and its place in the organization are presented. The last part of the article presents the importance of intellectual capital as a source of innovation in an enterprise, paying particular attention to the importance of the potential of knowledge that can really influence and shape the innovative processes of a modern enterprise, especially in the nature of a learning organization.
