Summary/Abstract: The article celebrates the 90th birthday of Associate Professor Ladislav Bartko, a significant figure in Slovak linguistics and literary history. Born in 1934 in Trstené pri Hornáde, Bartko's early education was disrupted by geopolitical changes, leading him to learn Hungarian. He later pursued Slovak language studies at the Pedagogical Faculty in Prešov. Bartko's career included teaching, dialectological research, and contributions to Slovak cultural heritage. He played a key role in founding the Horehronské Museum and organizing literary competitions. His research focused on dialects, particularly in the Abov region, and he collaborated on studies of Slovak dialects in Ukraine. Bartko's work has been recognized with numerous awards, reflecting his impact on Slovak linguistics and culture.
