Summary/Abstract: This study examines the Old Testament account of Naaman the Syrian's healing by the prophet Elisha in the Jordan River, an event of significant theological and liturgical importance. Firstly, it highlights the miraculous nature of this healing, as it involves the cleansing of Naaman in the contemporary and historically significant Jordan River, occurring through God's will despite Naaman's initial confusion over Elisha's instructions. The structure of this research begins with an exegetical analysis of the event itself. The second chapter explores the baptismal dimension of the healing from the perspective of the Church Fathers. Additionally, the study delves into the liturgical significance of this event, considering that later, Jesus Christ Himself was baptized in the Jordan by John the Baptist. The goal is to demonstrate the intrinsic connection between water, a fundamental element of God's creation essential for life, and the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, marking the beginning of Christian life. God's divine providence acts upon creation, initially purging sin from humanity and matter, and subsequently sanctifying it, a process of great complexity.
