Summary/Abstract: The research topic Gehazi, the disciple of Elisha - between the fulfillment of the mission and the failure, aims to highlight the character of Gehazi, the disciple of the prophet Elisha. If the man of God, Elisha, proved by his deeds to be a disciple of the prophet Elijah the Tishbite in the true sense of the word, we will see below that Elisha's disciple encounters difficulties in the most important moments. Ghehazi's personality is a complex one, this character becoming easily influenced by external as well as internal factors such as external riches and thoughts that push him to commit certain sins, which will eventually attract the disease on him. The objectives I set myself are the following: to highlight and outline as clearly as possible Ghehazi's character, taking into account the contexts in which he is actively involved with his mentor. My second goal is to emphasize that moral failure is directly proportional to the failure of the prophetic mission. During the work I considered it necessary to analyze three scriptural passages of the Old Testament, namely 4 Kings 4,12–36 - the episode related to the Shunammite woman, then the one from 4 Kings 8, 4–6 in which Gehazi testifies to the king of Israel about the resurrection of his son Shunamite, at which point she appears, and finally 4Rg 5,20–27 - the narrative in which Neeman, the Syrian dignitary, is healed. In this approach I will apply the historical-critical exegesis and the diachronic one as research methods applying the corresponding scientific elements. The diachronic exegesis consists in the interpretation of the scriptural texts considering their historical dimension and we will take into account both the context and the cultural, social but also political conditions in which the text was written. Throughout the analysis from an exegetical point of view we will use the method of historical-critical exegesis in which a critical interpretation of the texts will be exposed, wanting to analyze as objectively as possible the phrases and phrases that will be exposed in more detail.
