Summary/Abstract: The axiological doctrine of culture, unlike many other theoretical approaches, allows us to observe culture from the inside. Our task is to trace the family values of a specifically Russian family in the historical perspective of the 19th–21st centuries in the conditions of ethnically diversified Moldova and typified in the images of fiction of the corresponding period. The theme of the family is one of the leading themes in both world and Russian literature, which has created an artistic model of the family throughout the entire period. The study of family values of the Russian population, based on the materials of fiction by local writers from Moldova and Romania, allows us to construct typological images of a family located in the urban space and provides the opportunity to identify the national and regional features of the transformation of the family institution. The representative range of artistic materials, chosen as a research base, demonstrates the influence on family values of such factors as nationality, religion, family, national cultural customs and traditions, which leave a certain imprint on a person’s belief system. The study of this issue, using the presented examples of fiction, allows us to deepen our understanding of the current state of the family institution in Moldova.
