Summary/Abstract: In the present paper, the author compares an original text written in French with its translation into Finnish. He analyses the translation of the French modal verbs which are expressing the possibility and the probability into Finnish. The original text Courrier de Finlande written by Philippe Guicheteau was translated into Finnish by Jouni Kuurne – Sunnuntaikirjeitä Suomesta.
