Summary/Abstract: The purpose of my essay is to attempt at assuming a “metaphysical approach” (postulated by Oliver Sacks) and at empathetic reading of stories written by patients with Parkinson’s disease. The disease is chronic, incurable and results in the loss of control over one’s body and physi- cality. It is visible from the outside, causing stigma and making it difficult to accept or tame. The analysis covers the autopatography of Romanian-German writer Richard Wagner. The author is trying to bring down the wall of incomprehension and describe what they are going through from their point of view.
