Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the issue of road traffic safety as a basic element of transport logistics. The aim of this paper is to identify and analyze road safety risk factors, in particular road accidents. It should be noted that in practice there is not only one cause of road accidents. There is usually a group of successive factors that create some kind of chain of causes. Moreover, the article presents selected statistics illustrating the state of road safety in Poland in 2020 - 2022. As part of the authors' own research of this article, the following research methods and tools were used: review of literature and legal acts, analysis, synthesis, conclusions. The statistical materials that were used to conduct a diagnosis of the security situation in Poland in 2020-2022 and indicate directions of actions aimed at improving it turned out to be crucial.
