Summary/Abstract: The situation of imprisonment of one of the family members is a difficult situation for the entire family. It means a new situation - separation, a multitude of emotional, social and economic problems. It becomes a challenge whose main goal is to maintain bonds with a partner, children, parents, siblings, and in some cases, reactivate contacts with family members. The subject of this article is the role and importance of contacts of persons deprived of liberty with their families in the social rehabilitation process, as well as an indication of the activities undertaken by the Prison Service aimed at family integration. When considering the issue of the effectiveness of imprisonment and returning to crime, special attention should be paid to the families of convicts and the bonds within them, which are the key to their effective social rehabilitation and condition their social readaptation.
